5 Mixes

This weeks 5 Awesome Mixes For Your Ears has something a little old, a little classic, and something very much brand spanking new so it is as ever, quite the assortment of beats and basslines from record labels to producers, from radio shows to live sets on a farm.

The One Series Live (004) @ Forcefields 2013

I’m going to let Elite Force speak for himself on this one. I feel that this was a very special event and one which could grow into something very special indeed as this mix is full of wonderful, dreamscape techno, funky breaks, deep house, and the odd spot of dirty electro.

This mix is all part of The One Series where you find Mr Force dropping monstrous sets from various beautiful venues from across the planet.

It’s not often you get to throw a proper party at your own place. Forcefields was exactly that – an invite-only weekend on my little farm tucked away in the South East (UK) far away from the madding crowds.

This year, post-Burning Man re-entry has been harder than ever before, so burying myself in 18-hours a day graft to make this happen in a way I’d be happy with was the perfect way to ameliorate my way back to the default world.

Everyone who came was perfectly respectful, and most people participated, contributed and thoroughly enjoyed the unique nature of the event. Those who were able, helped create a truly magical kingdom for the night, and it’s certainly one I’ll never forget, regardless of how long I find myself living in this place.

My set that night began deep as darkness fell, and as the bar emptied, I rather surprised myself by rocking out for the last hour. Most unexpected … but that’s the beauty of DJ’ing, right? – Simon Shackleton aka Elite Force

This amazing mix – all 4 and a half hours of it – is a free download. I think we can forgive him for not providing a tracklist. Just know that it is full of class tunes. Because that is all that Shack ever plays. Grab the insanely, delightful mix right here.

Skint Records Podcast 013 – Guest Mix Mihalis Safras

This is an interesting podcast from Skint Records with a guest mix included from Mihalis Safras. The start of it begins with some brilliant DnB beats which then morphs into some classic house music which we all know Skint Records being famous for but gracefully, it is not full of their tunes but this is a great selection from the various crevasses from the genre.

Some cracking tunes in this mix. It’s definitely one for the weekend frivolities.

The Progression Playlist | Louis La Roche X Frank & Oak

An unusual mix from Louis La Roche as he is mixing it up for a clothing line, but to be fair, the clothing line Frank & Oak is pretty awesome. As is this mix. So I guess they work well together.

At 22 years old, Louis La Roche is perhaps the next great hero for the British dance music scene. Louis has undoubtedly been influenced by UK legends such as The Chemical Brothers and Basement Jaxx, alongside the unmistakable French house sound of the 1990’s. Louis La Roche grew up listening to Daft Punk, Cassius and Mr. Oizo and his inspirations have already led him to being confused for one of his heroes.

This is disco, techno and a little bit house, all excellently fused together. And so obviously French!

D-Pulse – Keep On Running (Datasette Remix)
Louis La Roche – Funk Trunk Skunk
Tapesh & Kant – Talking Dirty (Mat.Joe’s Clean Up Mix)
Grum – Everytime
Justin Timberlake – Trouble Vision (J Paul Getto Remix)
The Knocks Vs Fred Falke – Geronimo (Louis La Roche Remix)
??? – ???
Justin Bieber – As Long As You Love Me (Louis La Roche Remix)
Basement Jaxx – Red Alert
Calvin Harris – I Need Your Love (Ft. Ellie Goulding) (Louis La Roche Remix)
Mike Mago – The Show (Louis La Roche Remix)
Storm Queen – Look Right Through (MK Vocal Remix)
??? – ???
Louis La Roche – Let Go
Siriusmo – Congratulator
The Supermen Lovers – Moments (Louis La Roche Remix)
Isolee – Allowance
Durerstuben – Gscheids Planet
Daze – S.O.L.A.R

Girls Music Radio Show 7: With James Mountain

Girls Music is a record label founded by Toddla T and The 2 Bears. Still relatively in it’s infancy – just like Toddla T’s little one – we have a radio show full of, well, music for Girls? I kind of think yes, but also no at the same time. I guess my feminine side loves this shizzle. Chilled out and emotional grooves from House, to disco, to shoegazing, night-bus style techno. If it is warmly seductive, charming and luscious then it’ll be here.

And because I’m such a girl, this is my mix of the week – thetruejoe90

This too is a free download and you can get it right here.

Master Plan Inc – You Turn Me On
