Bullet In The Gun by Planet Perfecto The Refracture Remix
Perfecto Records have always been at the forefront of fresh talent, quality tunes and is a globally renowned brand that every dance music label is aware of. Having been around for a number of years and have had a score of stunningly beautiful releases, every now and then a classic is rejuvenated by being remixed by producers currently at the top of their game. This is a perfecto example. ‘Bullet In The Gun’ by Planet Perfecto The Refracture Remix.
‘Planet Perfecto’ were one of the first dance music supergroups. Comprising of Paul Oakenfold, Ian Masterson and Jake Williams it was in 1999 that the original timeless composition was unleashed into the world of clubland. Hitting number 15 in the commercial charts it was a dancefloor smash as well as a radio regular. Now in the year 2012 we have a return and with great pride I promote this particular remix from one of my favourite talents, ‘Refracture’.
The track has been given a boost with euphoric bass, punchier mids but still of course holding the essence of the original. It’s got more heart and depth, and manages to cross over from the trance scene into the genres of electro and breakbeat. A sound similar to the incredible Beatman & Ludmilla who earlier this year remixed Tokyo by Paul Oakenfold. Audacious, vibrant and melodic.
“I grew up listening to the original of this and I played it extremely loud in my youth. I had no idea that one day I would end up doing an official remix for it so you can imagine how excited I was when I opened up my emails one day and saw an email from my manager for a Perfecto remix job. He said, “Here’s a remix job. Some classic Perfecto track.” I opened the zip and ‘Bullet In The Gun’ popped up. As soon as I worked the melodies out I was set. I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to take it to another level and tread the fine line of keeping it melodic and serious and hit with a lot of impact when it dropped. I worked harder on this remix than any track previous to it. It’s great to have it out there. A definite highlight for my music career, so far.”
– Paul Dobson aka Refracture
The release comes with two other remixes and they are by Eddie Halliwell and Gary Maguire. The Halliwell remix sounds very Swedish House Mafia like with a bit of a progressive nature to it whereas The Maguire remix is less hands up in the air but it seriously rises the goosebumps on your spine. It stays within the trance family but has far more “out of your mind” euphoria. It is pretty special. As is Perfecto Records.

The Gary Maguire Remix
Support comes from Paul Van Dyk, The Crystal Method, Beatman & Ludmilla, Beta, Access Denied, Kyau & Albert to name a few. I’m glad that this release has the original foundations still in tact but with the new lease of life. ‘Bullet In The Gun’ was a cracking track in 1999, and it is an even more wondrous record now.
