Necronomicon by Q.G. from DGA FAU Records

QG by Necronomicon from DGA FAU Records | http://funkatech.com/thetruejoe90

Quentin Gauthier is the man who releases track like ‘Necronomicon’ from DGA FAU Records under the name of Q.G. and this latest release (which has actually been out for a couple of weeks) is just one of those infectious pieces of material that is awkward to pigeon-hole yet can be stretched across a few sub-genres of dance music. It has glitch hop elements but not that you can say it is glitch hop. It has a stunning French electro feel, the kind you have with a sultry groove, a classy swagger and a certain “je nais se quoi”, but it’s not really electro as such. It has break elements and dubstep elements but it is still none of those but it is definitely nu-disco, so that’ll do for me.

The term ‘Neconomicon’ is taken from an author of horror books revolving around magic, occultism, and religion so either our producer Q.G. is a fan of his work or has managed to nail the name of the track very aptly indeed. With a thumping barrage of abusive mids and bass tones after the Christian-Gothic-Choir like intro, the tune is very relentless. It grows and then drops and then continues in an unstoppable manner up until the dubstep style break which is a pleasantly horrifying, furious bombardment of synths and sounds. It’s really quite cool.
