Nicky D’Silva is a multi-award winning producer who’s roots began with the Community Music Program in London alongside Tommy Dash where they created the CTRL-Z project who went onto much fame with the now monstrous label Never Say Die Records.
They had over 50 releases and remixes under their belts on respected labels such as Against the Grain, Lot49, Botchit & Scarper, Passenger, Functional, Rat Records and Hardcore Beats. It is no surprise that after only a year in the business, CTRL-Z had the honour of receiving two nominations for ‘Best Breakthrough Act‘ and ‘Best Breakthrough Producer‘ at the 2005 Breakspoll Awards. Dash & Nicky continued to receive praise and support from some of the biggest players in the scene, remixing and working alongside stalwarts such as The Freestylers, Tayo, Atomic Hooligan, Dreadzone and Dylan Rhymes amongst others.
Headlining events all over the world their DJ sets have to be seen to be believed. CTRL-Z were the first Breaks act to be signed exclusively to the renowned Echo Location Agency where they were given the honour of supporting Pendulum on their first ever live tour. In 2007 they were one of the main draw-cards in Annie Nightingale’s Tent on the Opening night of the infamous Glastonbury festival and became residents at the legendary End Club for DJ Friction’s ‘Shogun Audio’ Night.
2008 saw Tommy Dash form the Stereo:Type project with Chris Screwface, and Nicky form the PYRAMID project with Ken Mac who have continued to smash out their unique 140bpm jungle sounds on Funkatech Records.
PYRAMID are now long acquainted studio partners and good mates. The pair are seasoned live performers who are regularly tearing up parties all over the globe from Glastonbury to Galway, known for their trademark electric sets and limitless energy on stage.
Originally rooted in Breakbeat, their sound has evolved into a melting pot of beats and basslines set at around 140bpm. Be it Breaks, Dubstep or anything in between, PYRAMID are certified hot property having had production work commissioned for Polydor signing Roxxxan, Mercury’s Dot Rotten alongside TMS, Sony’s latest sensation Jagga, Tiesto’s Black Hole imprint and dubstep giants Dub Police.
And with 2012 bringing with it official remix duties for Carl Cox & Dot Rotten; regular plays on 1xtra; an Australia tour for a second year in a row plus their smash single ‘Lost In You ft. Lena Cullen’ the rise continues through 2013.
